As the Benet Girls Swim and Dive Team sees its regular season come to an end, we should recognize the hard work these girls have put into improving these last few months. With practices everyday and meets nearly every week, it is safe to say that swimming became a major part of these girls’ lives this Fall.
The girls’ hard work paid off, as they had a very successful season. For instance, both the varsity and junior varsity teams placed first at Lincoln Way East on September 22nd. Varsity placed third at the Downers Grove North Trojan Invite on September 19th. Junior varsity placed second at the IMSA invite on October 3rd. In addition, junior Abby Morrissey and freshman Coco Pearson achieved state-qualifying times, securing spots at conference and sectionals.
The season allowed athletes to make new friends and memories. Junior Kaelyn Pacana said, “My favorite memory has been hanging out with all my teammates and cheering everyone on during their races.” Fellow junior Kelsey McCabe expressed similar sentiments, saying, “We always have each others’ backs and are there for each other in and out of the pool.”
