Boys Golf: Off to a Great Start

The boys golf team is off to a great start this year! They finished second place at the Bob Sterr Invite and the Vern McGonegle Memorial Championship, both of which were played at the Naperville Country Club. Junior Austin Feldman was a medalist in both of the invites, with a score of 72 strokes and a score of 75 strokes. “We really enjoy playing together. We can count
on everyone to shoot some low scores. Coach Marty Gaughan is a great mentor, and he supports all of us. We take each tournament one by one and always go into it with a positive attitude so we will be successful. It’s all about the team,” said Feldman.

“We will have a very challenging schedule, but a schedule that
will prepare us to be playing our best golf at the end of the year,” says the boys varsity coach, Mr. Gaughan. Also, on the topic of expectations for the team this year, Mr. Gaughan said, “We have high expectations. We are focusing on contending for conference. We are hoping to win at least one invite and hoping to qualify for State.” Something worth mentioning is that the Benet boy golf team twitter has been posting motivational quotes such as, “Continuous effort, not strength or intelligence, is the key to unlock your potential.”

The boys golf team’s first match on August 25 at Glenbard West was victorious with a 150-156 win.
