Girls Volleyball: Developing Dynasty

2015 Benet Girls Volleyball Varsity Team

2015 Benet Girl’s Volleyball Varsity Team

The Benet girls volleyball team has created a strong reputation over the past years. Mere statistics illustrate the program’s success. The team has gone to state every year since the 2011 season. Out of the past four seasons, the Benet program has won state three times. Since 2007, the program has always made it to at least the Sweet Sixteen round of playoffs. Volleyball Magazine named Brad Baker, our varsity coach, the 2014 Coach of the Year. Baker has created a dynasty during his time coaching at Benet.

Alumni from his program usually find themselves playing volleyball at a Division 1 Collegiate level. This summer, senior Tiffany Clark played volleyball for the USA Girls’ Youth National Team at the World Championships in Peru. The USA team finished second overall after falling to Italy in the finals. Along with this success, Clark’s club team, Sports Performance Volleyball 18 Elite, won the AAU National Championship for the 18 Open Division.

Along with all the great alumni and current players, talented
girls come into Benet looking to play volleyball every year. Benet has become a magnet school for potential girl volleyball players. Many young girls shadow Benet due to the success of the volleyball program. Many have no doubt that the dynasty will continue this upcoming season.

The returning seniors are Lauren Berta, Tiffany Clark, Lina Lietuvninkas, Kendal Kavanaugh, and Meghan Conroy – feel confident that they will have another successful season on the court. Also, the seniors are happy that they have several returning players. They believe they will benefit from the girls who have had experience playing on the varsity level before. Many of the girls have put in work during the off-season to prepare for the fall.

With the guidance of Coach Baker and the seniors, the girls are ready to make Benet proud again this season!
