Boys Soccer: Deepest Roster Ever

Boys Soccer: Deepest Roster Ever

“It will be very difficult to fill the holes of Kyle Kenagy, Andrew Heaton, Dustin Uher, and the whole cast of seniors,” Coach Sean Wesley said. “However, this is the deepest roster I have had in the past six years.”

Sean Wesley, who began his sixth year as head coach, and his Benet Redwings are thrilled for another soccer season which has all the makings to be great. The team is bringing back a multitude of starters which gives the Redwings experience. On the other hand, there are many new faces on the team who are sure to bring flair.

Training for the Benet Redwings began all the way back in June starting with a team camp. This was then followed by speed and conditioning training along with skills camp all throughout the month of July. The boys worked extremely hard during the course of the summer to prepare themselves for August 12; the date tryouts began.

This new team of Benet Redwings is ecstatic for the start of the season which kicked off at home on August 25 against Downers Grove North. Unfortunately, the Redwings were not able to come out with a win, losing the game 2-1. However, the boys came back strong on August 27 against Hinsdale South, pulling out a convincing 7-0 victory. Benet will now proceed to compete in the Best of the West Tournament, where they play rivals such as Naperville Central and Naperville North.

The Redwings are looking forward to having another great season
as the team continues to come together.
