While her season ended in early March, Indiana commit and four star guard Lenne Beaumont has not stopped racking up awards. She became the first Illinois athlete since Candance Parker to win both the Gatorade Women’s Player of the Year and the Ms. Basketball award. These awards cap off a legendary career for the Lady Redwings. In her final season, Beaumont led Benet Academy to a 4A state semifinal berth and eventual second place finish, averaging 19.3 points, 7.6 rebounds and 3.2 assists a game. While the guard has a versatile 6-foot frame, her game relies heavily on her ball skills and silky smooth jump shot. When asked about how she felt after accomplishing this unprecedented feat, she told the Herald “it was just kind of surreal because it’s something I’ve always dreamed of, and to actually have it come true is so rewarding and humbling.” Lenee will be attending Indiana University in the fall on scholarship. The Hoosiers finished the regular season ranked number two in the country, and won the BIG Ten regular season title. While the team is graduating three players, the Hoosiers will be losing no star power at all, with Beaumont teaming up with fellow four star guard Jules LaMendola, who was also named Ms. Basketball in her home state of Texas. Moving forward, Beaumont will be focused on bringing a national title back to Bloomington.
