On Wednesday, April 26, Benet Girls Track & Field had their Senior Night. It was also their first full home track meet after the first meet was canceled the prior week. Four schools competed in the meet, including Benet Academy, Joliet Catholic Academy, Nazareth Academy, and St. Viator.

The meet started by celebrating the seniors on the team, and each senior got to name their favorite thing about the team. Most of the favorites were either hilarious or kind words about other teammates. After the ceremony, it was off to events for the entire team.

Field events began first, including long jump, triple jump, high jump, pole vault, discus, and shot-put. These events did not disappoint, as most had Benet athletes in the top 3. Every event had at least one athlete achieve a personal or a season record.

Running events were no different, as Benet placed top 5 in every event. The events included the 100-meter dash, the 200-meter dash, the 400-meter run, the 800-meter run, the 1600-meter run, the 300-meter hurdles, the 4×100-meter relay, and the 4×800-meter relay.

With all the scores counted, St. Viator came in fourth with 16.5 points, Nazareth Academy came in third with 31.5, and Joliet Catholic Academy came in second with 36 points. Benet Academy came in first with 139 points, exceeding the competition by over 100 points.

As the meet came to a close, it was a bittersweet moment for not only the seniors but the coaches that saw them grow and the juniors that will be in the same position next year.
