Benet Academy Varsity Hockey competed in the State Playoffs, taking themselves to an admirable Sweet 16 finish.

They started strong against the St. Viator Lions on Thursday, with captain Cole Rosenthal and forward Jeremy DeWilkins scoring rapid-fire goals in the first period. Despite a quiet second period in which the Lions got a goal back, the Redwings shined in the third. Anthony Pacheco, DeWilkins again, Ethan Heller, and Tommy Dusek scored brilliant goals in the third period to lead the Redwings to a comfortable 6-1 finish.

However, when the team reached the Sweet 16, they seemed to run out of steam against Glenbard North. Even though they lost 7-0, including a brace from Spartans senior Owen Just, the Redwings never gave up

Even though the Redwings did not advance further, they had a stellar season, finishing 29-22-6 and reaching the semi-finals of the DiChristina Cup and the Kennedy Cup.
