Swimming Up A Storm

It has been a successful season so far for Benet boys swim team! The team started the season with a loss against Downers Grove South (144-159). However, the Redwings came back with an impressive showing at the Highland Park Invitational. The team placed second in the 200 yard medley relay. Junior Connor Hwang placed third in the 100 yard butterfly as well as second in the 100 yard backstroke. Junior Jack Kobus placed second in the 100 yard breaststroke followed by junior Brady Quinlan in fourth. The team managed to place sixth overall in the invitational.

The boys also had a fantastic meet at the Downers Grove North Trojan Invite. The team managed to place second in the 200 yard medley again and third in the 200 yard free relay. Hwang got first in the 200 yard individual medley with Quinlan not far behind in sixth. Kobus won the 100 yard breaststroke and Quinlan placed third. Overall, Benet finished in third for the freshman/sophomore team and fifth for varsity team, making it a successful showing for the Redwings.

The team is currently ranked forty-fourth in the state of Illinois and fourth in the MetroCatholic Aquatic Conference. They have high hopes going into the Conference and Sectional Championships on February 8 and 22. The Redwings will hopefully bring home some hardware!
