2019 Football Season Summary

The Benet varsity football team kicked off a spectacular 2019 season as they defeated Naperville North (28-21). Varsity dominated the first leg to the season with an undefeated record of 6-0 toppling other high schools such as Moline, Saint Ignatius, De La Salle, Marian Catholic, and St. Laurence. The unbelievable winning streak ended, however, as they lost to Loyola Academy, Nazareth, and St. Rita, finishing off regular season games with a record of 6-3. Head coach, Mr. Patrick New, commented,“The third part of the season was really tough since we faced defending state champions Loyola and Nazareth.” Undeterred, the team headed to the playoffs for the eighth year in a row. Coach New said, “We need to continue working hard in order to succeed in the final stretch of the entire season.” The team showed great teamwork and competitive spirit; unfortunately, they were unable to regain momentum from earlier in the season losing to Glenbard North in the playoffs.
