Varsity Girls Lacrosse Season Preview

With tryouts over and the first game less than a week away, the varsity girls lacrosse team is preparing for an exciting season and their first as an IHSA sport. The team, coached by Caitlyn Delaney and Colleen Savell, had some rebuilding to do after the graduation of seven varsity players.

The team’s defensive dynamic will face changes with the loss of Claire Moran ‘17 and Grace Valadka ‘17; however, the three returning starting midfielders, Anna Schuster ‘18, Josephine Napolski ‘19, and Caroline Covey ‘20; returning defense Sarah Fuller ‘18; and Katie Mangan ‘18 should facilitate this transition.

When asked about her outlook for the season, head coach Caitlyn Delaney said, “About half of our team are returning varsity players, and we have gained a lot of new talent this year. We lost almost all of our defenders last year, but we have a lot of new defensive players this year who I think are going to make all of the difference for us. We have a lot of talent and teamwork, which I believe will lead to a very successful season for us”.

The first game will be played on March 14 away against Hoffman Estates at 6:30 PM.
