Redwings Blowout Hilltoppers on Senior Night

The Benet Academy boys basketball team made their seniors proud on their Senior Night on Friday, crushing the Joliet Catholic Academy Hilltoppers by a score of 53-31 in an East Suburban Catholic Conference showdown.

Senior David Buh led both teams with sixteen points, fourteen of which were scored in the second half. His late scoring burst helped the Redwings build a more comfortable lead, as they were only up by five points at halftime. Sophomore Colin Crothers was also a key contributor, scoring ten points and grabbing seven rebounds by the game’s end. Senior Ben Cooney lead the charge on defense, with seven steals in total.

Benet’s blowout victory against the Hilltoppers, as well as their Saturday win over the Stevenson Patriots, gives them an outstanding 21-4 record for the regular season. They are currently on a twelve game win streak, with teams like Marist, York, and Lake Forest Academy falling to them in that span. The Redwings, who were ranked 22nd in the state heading into their matchup with Joliet Catholic, only have five more games left in the regular season. It will be interesting to see if they can maintain their tremendous momentum into the playoffs.
