Five Benet Athletes Sign to College Teams

On Wednesday, November 8, five female Benet athletes signed their letters of intent for college sports teams. The official signings took place in St. Ronald lobby during senior homeroom. This day is the culmination of years of disciplined practice and meticulous training.
The first to sign were basketball player Tsimba Malonga and rower Madison McGivney. Malonga will be playing for Denver University next year, and McGivney will be rowing for the University of Michigan.
The next to sign were volleyball players Claire Byrne, Lilly Johnson, and Taylor Van Eekeren. Byrne signed to Washington University in St. Louis, Johnson to Bradley University in Peoria, and Van Eekeren to The University of West Florida.
Each athlete had family members and friends there to support her as she took this important step to furthering her athletic career. When asked to describe the overall experience, VanEekeren said, “It’s amazing to sign after working so hard. It’s also so fun to sign with my fellow volleyball players after growing up with them at Benet. Overall the best day of my life.”
Congratulations to athletes and best of luck to them and their future teams. They are certain to make Benet Academy proud.
