Race to the Finish: Benet Girls Track Shines

Saturday February 18, the Benet Academy girls track team took part in a track meet at Downers Grove South. The girls brought their A-game, as many of them finished among the best in the competition. Here’s a quick rundown of how some of the girls placed:

Senior Ali Munson was impressive in her outing, finishing first in pole vault with 10’6”. She also led all Benet girls in the 200-meter race with a time of 28.3 seconds.

Senior Amanda DeSitter also made her mark in the competition. Her 800-meter time was three minutes and 32 seconds, which was fast enough to place her in first among other Redwing runners. She finished third place in the meet overall.

Junior Ashley Tyburski’s 400-meter time was 62.38 seconds, which was the fastest time in the entire meet.

The girls have a couple more indoor meets ahead of them this month. If they perform anywhere near as well as they did at this meet, they’ll be a force to be reckoned with, not just in the indoor season but also in outdoor.
