A Strong Start

Over Christmas break, the Benet Academy boys basketball team displayed their superb ability in the annual Pontiac Holiday Tournament.

The boys started the tournament with a 69-41 slaughter of Lockport High School. This set the offensive tone of competing until the end, which would prove necessary later on in the tournament.

Benet played Bloomington High School in a head to head match up the following day. The two teams fought tooth and nail for the lead, and Benet was able to pull through with a nail-biter victory of 59-57.

In the last day of the tournament, Benet faced Danville High School in another tight game but finished with a slightly more marginal final score of 48-42. After a couple hours of rest, the team hit the floor to battle the renowned Simeon for 1st Place. Benet put up an impressive fight but ended up losing by a slim two points and a final score of 50-52.

Benet proved it was a worthy opponent and showed that they have been working impeccably to achieve the most this season.

Congrats to the basketball team on the second place finish.
