Spring break not only gives faculty and students time away from school, it also allows for vacations! Whether Redwings are going on vacation or staying local, everyone has different plans during the much-needed break to relax in the midst of a very busy season.
Sophomore Rachael Wojciechowski went to St. Kitts for spring break with her family. There, she participated in various fun activities, including parasailing, scuba diving, and horseback riding, to name a few. She explored old ruins as well. Rachael was very glad to spend the week relaxing in a tropical paradise away from the busy and challenging times of second semester. Overall, Rachael enjoyed experiencing a new culture and exploring a new country over the well-deserved vacation.
While some students indulged in tropical vacations, other students dedicated their spring break to service and volunteer trips. For example, sophomore Abby Pogue went on a “Work Tour” with her church’s youth group. She drove down to Georgia with other students, where they participated in many volunteer events. She painted a house, worked at several food pantries, and volunteered at a thrift store. While most of her time was devoted to volunteering, she also had some free time during the trip to hang out with her friends and go to the beach. She deeply enjoyed this service trip and has been doing it for 2 years now; she plans to continue doing it for the rest of high school.
Sophomores Clare Rafferty and Alexa Dulle both went to Florida for spring break. Clare went to Dry Tortugas National Park with her family and snorkeled. She also went to the Everglades and did an alligator airboat tour. Alexa went to Amelia Island, where she spent most of her time relaxing at the pool and beach. She did spend some time in the town, where they tried a lot of restaurants. To end her break, she went to Oviedo to visit her cousins who live there and celebrate Easter with her family.
Overall, I think all Redwings enjoyed the well-needed break and had a lot of fun with whatever they filled their time with. Spring break gave everyone a moment to prepare themselves for the busiest time of the year, which includes AP exams and finals. Redwings are rejuvenated from break and ready for the end of the school year!
