Janet Jackson’s song “Come On Get Up” encourages all people to start dancing, and the Orchesis Dance Group has certainly been taking this advice this year! Last week marked the end of the first half of the 2026 season, and dances for November’s Showcase have never looked better. From hip hop to contemporary, pointe ballet to tap, this year is sure to have it all!
Orchesis welcomes both advanced and novice dancers, as all have the same goal: sharing the stage and having a great time with friends. Dancers love Orchesis and appreciate that the group is a safe place to perform. As sophomore choreographer Abigail Ling said, “Orchesis is such a friendly space. Even being a choreographer, I don’t feel above the students I teach, and I love laughing and joking and making connections whenever I dance with them. It’s such a community formed through camaraderie and I cherish every Monday and Wednesday when I can forget about school and just dance with my classmates.”
The Orchesis Dance Group hopes to have a successful Showcase in November, and based on the dedication of the dancers, it will. The Showcase will open with the aforementioned “Come On Get Up” and feature popular hits such as “Man I Need,” “NUEVAYoL,” and “Rich Girl.” Dancers will enjoy costumes, bright lights, and a supportive audience as they fill the stage on November 21st, 22nd, and 23rd. It is sure to be a fun time, and the effort each performer puts in will definitely be noticed by the audience. So, while only halfway through the season, the Orchesis Dance Group is thriving and sure to achieve its best showcase yet in November.
