Senior Leadership: A Tradition Continued

Senior leadership is a long-standing tradition at Benet Academy. Overseen by Brother Guy and Mrs. Debbie Eckert, a group of seniors organizes weekly leadership talks for the senior class. So far this year, speeches on the meaning of leadership and leadership skills have been given by Mr. Jake Fitzgerald and Mr. Steven Crosby.
The first speaker of the year was Mr. Fitz on Friday, October 20. His message to seniors was attitude is everything. Everyone has the freedom to choose their attitude towards a situation, and this choice determines a person’s character. A leader is someone who chooses to stay cheerful through the toughest times.
On Friday, October 27, Mr. Crosby encouraged seniors to be leaders by first finding themselves and not worrying about what others have to say. A leader is someone who people follow, but people cannot follow someone who doesn’t know where they’re going. Through the use of many stories, Mr. Crosby shared times when he had been a leader and when he lacked a quality necessary to being a leader.
Senior leadership is a widely enjoyed tradition which has helped to guide generations of Benet seniors. Upcoming speakers include Mr. Patrick Doyle on November 17 and Doc Jennifer Gimmell on December 1, and all seniors are encouraged to attend.
