Avions Dance Showcase for the Drive

This past weekend, seven different dance teams including Benet Academy’s Avions performed at the 4th Annual Dance for the Drive. The Dance for the Drive is a showcase of local dance teams hosted by the Avions, and the money collected from the showcase goes towards the Christmas Drive.

“It makes us feel so happy that we got to share our love of dance and raise money for the community at the same time,” said Mary Clare Shay (‘19), one of the performers on the junior varsity Avions. “It was awesome to see a bunch of dance studios coming together to raise money for such an important cause. The Avions had a lot of fun raising money for the Christmas Drive while doing what we love.”
The Avions and the other dance teams danced to songs such as “Can’t Stop The Feeling”, “Seven Nation Army” and “Unbroken”. In all, the Avions and the other dance teams performed to twenty-five different songs!

“I think it is amazing that we are able to use dance to help others, and all the studios in the area come together to support the cause! The show was great!” said Elise Girardot (‘19), a member of the varsity Avions.

Overall, the dance showcase this year was a success, and it was a great way to kick off the 2016 Christmas Drive. As to what they think is the best part of the Christmas Drive, Shay and Girardot both talked about the sense of community and the holiday spirit. “I think the best part about Christmas Drive is the holiday spirit that both the students and the teachers have,” Girardot said. “I also think it is great that even though we may be having a lot of fun, our money is going to help others, and that is what makes Christmas Drive so great!”
