A Scary Good Time

Who did Frankenstein take to the dance? His Ghoul-Friend!

For the past few years Benet Academy has hosted the South East Association for Special Parks and Recreation (S.E.A.S.P.A.R.) annual Boo Bash in the Alumni gym. S.E.A.S.P.A.R. is a local organization in Downers Grove that provides recreational activities for children and adults with disabilities. Twenty Benet students volunteered from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. to help decorate Alumni gym with spooky posters, streamers and balloons.

The Boo Bash is costume mandatory Halloween dance. This year’s Boo Bash was well attended with over 120 guests. Everyone came in wearing their best dressed Halloween costumes. The most popular costumes this year included Elsa from Frozen and famous sports figures. The most original costume went to the “Operation Man”, who wore doctor scrubs with various cutouts from the game glued on and a clown nose. Benet’s very own senior Matthew Luce provided the music as the guests and volunteers danced the night away.

This year’s Boo Bash was even more exciting due to the added live projection of the Chicago Cubs game. Senior Brielle Heraty will never forgot how much fun she had dancing and singing Go Cubs Go! with the “Operation Man” and other guests. S.E.A.S.P.A.R. is grateful for all the volunteers and hopes to see even more of them for the Winter Festival!
