John T. Augustyn, Editor-in-Chief
Hello All! My name is John Augustyn, and I am a current senior at Benet as well as the Editor-In-Chief of the Benet Herald for the 2024-25 school year. At the Academy, I am captaining the Scholastic Bowl Team (which earned the #103 place out of 6000+ teams last year), leading the Benet Scholars program as the Director of Scholar Enrichment, am a Committee Head in Student Government, and I am part of Model United Nations, the Math Team, and LIFT as well. Outside of Benet, I volunteer on my local library board, transcribe historical documents for the Gilder-Lehrman Institute, the preeminent society of American history, and work at a math tutoring chain called Mathnasium. Some of my personal interests include history, geography, economics, and logistics. The best part about the Benet Herald is that I am blessed to be working with a group of young adults who are devoted to learning more about the fascinating processes of journalism, which help to foster trust in a system that is so often maligned by people as being ‘biased’ or conforming to a particular narrative.
