The month of February in the Midwest can feel dreary and bleak, with snowy days and gray skies all around. Despite this, a glimmer of hope shines through at Benet Academy: a night filled with fun, friends, and photos! February at Benet always brings the annual Turnabout Dance, which brings students together for an evening of celebration, style, and school spirit. With laser lights overhead and music pumping through the Benet gym, students enjoyed an evening of friendship and excitement. Traditionally with the Turnabout Dance, the girls ask the guys, but many students choose to go with groups of friends.
This year, Turnabout was held on Saturday, February 21, in its usual spot in the Alumni Gym. The dance welcomed back many familiar faces, as well as new freshmen enjoying their first official Benet dance. Students danced along to various favorites, ranging from “Party in the USA” to “Can’t Hold Us.” Others decided to make permanent memories—through pictures! Everyone, whether with a date or simply with friends, had quite an enjoyable time listening to and partying through the night.
Benet students also make the most of the evening, often celebrating prior to the dance with dinners, potlucks, and time with friends before arriving at Benet, as well as continuing the celebration with an after-party once the dance has concluded. As freshman Aubrey Chernick said, “My first Benet dance was amazing! I had so much fun with my friends!” Overall, the night was a great one, never failing Benet expectations.
