Benet’s Give to Guatemala Day commenced on Friday, December 6th. The purpose of this day was to raise money to support the Benet-sponsored trip to build houses in Guatemala. Every summer, Benet students have the opportunity to travel there to help families in need by assisting in building and construction projects. Students had the opportunity to donate $1-2 to support this mission and also had the chance to receive a bracelet for a donation. Anyone who contributed could write his or her name on the “house” in St. Martin’s Lobby, which shows generous support to the people of Guatemala.
Every summer, 40 students have the opportunity to build homes for families in need in Guatemala. With only four days to build the houses, these students must overcome the obstacles and finish a home in the allotted time. These students must build the home entirely from scratch. This mission trip is a wonderful opportunity to collaborate with friends and directly help families in need. The money donated by Benet students on Give to Guatemala Day goes directly to the trip and building materials, which makes it an especially important cause to support.
Donating to the Give to Guatemala Day fund is a significant contribution to these people, and this trip allows for community service and the giving of shelter to families in need. If any Benet student is interested in learning more about this mission trip or the Give to Guatemala Day, students can contact Deacon Weiland for more information.
