This summer, on June 25, Benet Academy Special Spaces Club is having its second room makeover of the year. The first makeover was this April when Benet Special Spaces sponsored Ava and Olivia. The room outcome was amazing and the two girls were thrilled. Ava and Olivia’s mom was overflowing with gratitude saying, “We are so moved by the kindness and willingness of you all to help make our girls so incredibly happy!…Olivia and Ava cannot even decide what room is their favorite! They are literally running between both rooms playing NONSTOP! We are beyond thankful! Please continue to bring happiness to those kiddos in need!” The Benet Academy Special Spaces Club is a sect of Special Spaces Illinois, a non-profit organization creating dream bedrooms for children with cancer. The room will be for 9-year-old Logan who was recently diagnosed with DIPG, a rare and severe cancerous brain tumor, and for his 12-year-old brother, Wyatt. They want an ocean-themed or animal-themed room. The room should consist of new furniture including beds, dressers, and storage space; new bedding, toys, and appliances will also be added. Funding for the room will be provided through the Benet Special Spaces annual Easter Egg Hunt and a generous donation from the Benet Academy Christmas Drive fund. Volunteers will also be needed for the room makeover in June. The Benet Special Spaces Club plans on completing more rooms next year. Help from new fundraising ideas including a possible school spirit day will bolster available funds for more rooms. The Benet Special Spaces Club is always welcoming more members and invites everyone to join if interested. To join please email Special-Spaces-2023 on your Benet email address.
