Benet Academy students cheer on their basketball team in the game against Nazareth Academy.

On December 9, the Benet Academy Redwings faced off against the Nazareth Academy Roadrunners in an ESCC rivalry matchup. Benet Academy came into this game 6-0 on the year and 2-0 in conference play, while Nazareth Academy came into this game 3-4 and 2-1 in conference play. Though this was an important conference game for both teams, it means more when these rivals go head to head in competition.

The game started relatively slow, with both teams struggling to hit shots from the field. Eventually, Benet Academy started to make both their shots inside and beyond the arc. Senior Andy Nash was hot from behind the three-point line, hitting seven three-pointers to accelerate Benet Academy’s lead. Once Benet Academy got going, they did not stop. Benet Academy would win this game 58-29, moving to 7-0 overall and 3-0 in conference. Losing this game put Nazareth Academy at 3-5 and 2-2 in conference play. A solid game overall for the Redwings kept their undefeated season alive and well.
