Why Go on Catalyst?

Each year, SALT gives students at every grade level the opportunity to attend a retreat. Each retreat aims to further the student’s relationship with God and focus on certain aspects of the faith. The four retreats include the Freshman Retreat, Bridges for sophomores, Catalyst for juniors, and LOGOS.
Juniors should seriously consider attending retreats at Benet once again by signing up for Catalyst. Catalyst is held on a Saturday evening from 3-11 PM on three separate occasions during the year. Though it might comes across as a hefty time commitment for the average student’s Saturday, the time devoted to prayer and reflection makes it completely worthwhile.
Current seniors who attended last year’s retreat had many positive things to say. Senior Caroline Kubacki, who was a leader of Catalyst last year, said, “Junior year is arguably the most challenging year at Benet academically, Catalyst creates a strong family connection with your peers. It is amazing to have that support throughout the year.” The information shared at the retreat is kept confidential through the new bonds formed. The events of the evening are also a surprise to ensure that each student will enter with an open mind and no expectations for what the retreat will accomplish. The goal for each attendant is to leave the night with a newfound understanding or connection to the faith. Catalyst also serves as a precursor to LOGOS, which is the three day overnight senior retreat. Both Catalyst and LOGOS are highly encouraged by those who have gone before.
The dates for this year’s Catalyst retreats are October 21, February 10, and April 14. Juniors with any questions should email Mr. Kevin Veselik, the retreat coordinator, Mrs. Bedore, our campus minister, or Collin Dannheim, the senior retreat coordinator. Likewise, students can contact any of the student leaders for the October 21st retreat, who includes Greta Maras, Jillian OMeara, Pat Malec, Jeremy Hernandez, Andrew Gard, Sanjay Sibi, Charlie Romanesko, Hannah Yep, Bernadette Miao, and Clare Johnson.
