Alumni Career Speaker Series Enters its Fourth Year

For the past three years, the Counseling Department has partnered with the Alumni Relations Office in contacting and hosting Benet alumni for alumni career talks. This year, speakers with careers in business, law, medicine, computer programming, statistics, sports, entrepreneurs and writing are all scheduled to participate.

Mr. Greg Girsch uses his contacts within the Benet alumni community to secure speakers for the series. He has also received recommendations from Benet faculty and alumni. LinkedIn was also a useful way to get in touch with our alumni. In the past, there have been speakers with careers in the fields of engineering, architecture, banking, social media and fashion.
When asked to comment on the speaker series, Mr. Girsch said:

I feel the program is an extremely unique and valuable opportunity for Benet students to learn about a wide array of professions from alums who sat in the same desks as them not long ago. It’s a chance to learn about a field you might think you are interested in and also an opportunity to find out more about a career you may have never considered. Most of our speakers provide business cards and are willing to stay in touch with students to answer questions, provide advice and even potentially offer internships down the road.

This speaker series has always been an exciting way to broaden the knowledge of Benet students about the opportunities of the professional world and it is shaping up to be an exciting fourth year. These alumni career talks are held during lunch and homeroom. Listen to announcements and check your email for more information.
