Sofia Macaluso. Her name is the one on everyone’s minds. From being a member of Benet’s 2025 state cross country team, to starring in Benet’s spring musical as Annie in Annie, Sofia has it all going on. However, these fantastic achievements do not even measure up to her character. Sofia is caring, intelligent, genuine, filled with fun, and obviously overflowing with pure talent.
Annie is fast approaching. When asked about her preparation for the show, Sofia said, “For the show I’ve been doing a lot of mental prepping and lot’s of vocal conservation. Whether that’s limiting my talking, getting good rest, or drinking lot’s and lot’s of water, I am always doing what’s best for myself to get ready for showtime!” Sofia is clearly prepared to put on quite the show for us.
While the excitement of the show’s opening is clear there is also a bittersweet undertone of the time with this year’s fantastic company coming to an end. When asked about her experience with the Benet musical, Sofia remarked that her “experience has been so amazing it’s almost indescribable. The cast is full of so much love, everyone really cares about each other, it’s like a big family, a big musical family. It’s not the role that makes this show so enjoyable, it’s the people.” Sofia has such a big heart and it is so special to know that the people made up of students from all over the Benet community made the experience so exceptional for her.
Finally as such a big contributor to the Benet community, Sofia was asked about what advice she had to get to any current or future Redwings. She advised to not, “hesitate in trying different things at Benet! You never know the outcome and what good can come from it until you try. The greatest joy is overcoming the fear and just going for it.” Sofia is filled with so much wisdom at such a young age. It is clear that she will go very far.
Hearing that Sofia is having the total opposite of a Hard Knock Life here at Benet is amazing. It is such a blessing to have such a talented and kindhearted girl among us.
