Benet’s cheerleading team had a long season filled with immense talent, breakthroughs, and pure athleticism. The varsity team composed of many crazy accomplished young ladies went through many impediments, the main one being injuries.
The competition season started in early December and came to a close at the end of January. Throughout the season, the girls had many successes including placing second place at the Libertyville High School invite and third place at Carl Sandburg High School competition. Along with performing well at competitions the Benet Cheerleaders also entertained many crowds during both the football and basketball seasons. Their halftime routines as well as their sideline cheers dazzled all and surely motivated all players on the court and the field.

The celebrated and accomplished seniors on the team were Madeline Bayer, Jayleen Contreras, and Autumn Johnson. All the seniors have been a part of the program since their freshman year, and have made a lasting impression on the team.
The girls placed eleventh at sectionals pushing through with many injuries as previously stated. Despite this, the girls still had an amazing season. Hannah O’Leary, a sophomore on the team said, “I’m very proud of our team for persevering through all of our setbacks and for ending the season with a hit.” It was a phenomenal season overall and one for all Redwings to be proud of.
