Senior Night Recap
On February 6, as the stands filled with excited fans, family, and friends, the seniors prepared to step on to the court in St. Ronald’s Gym for the last time. The starting line up consisted of five seniors: Colin Stack, Jayden Wright, Aiden Renicker, Jack Reiser, and Ryan Walsh. With the opposing Dons of Notre Dame playing hard out of the gate, the game started off competitive before the Redwings took a massive lead that they never relinquished. Aiden Renicker went on to have a huge game from beyond the ark shooting 50% with four 3-pointers accumulating 12 points for the senior. When asked about his performance in such a meaningful and emotional game, Renicker said “It felt great. I trusted my shot and kept on shooting and did what I could to help my team.” Senior guard Jayden Wright and Senior center Colin Stack also had an impressive outing as they both scored 11 points, Stack was a monster on the boards with 13 rebounds. He also led the team with four blocks. All of the senior players showed up in the stat sheet. The game concluded with Benet blowing out Notre Dame by the score of 59-36.

The Road to a Repeating Title
As the regular season comes to a close, the confident #1 ranked Redwings prepare to set forth on another title run. Many players have stepped up all year, but none more than Jayden Wright and Colin Stack. Both started on the state championship team just a season ago, and know what it’s like to face the pressure the playoffs bring. When asked about the teams’ strengths and anticipated application in the playoffs, Stack replied: “Transition is a big strong suit of ours which stems from playing aggressive defense and being strong on the boards so that we can take advantage of mismatches on fast breaks. We are a fast team and plan to use that to our advantage against all teams, especially in the playoffs.”

The team is aware that the road to a repeat state title won’t be without challenges. When asked to comment on predicted obstacles, Jayden Wright replied: “Our worst enemy is ourselves. We’ve played a tough schedule and some teams have played us well, but if we prepare the way we should and come out focused we will be good. We control our own destiny.”
The Redwings have played lights out defense all season. When asked to comment on the strongest attributes of their defensive plan, Ryan Walsh stated: “Defensively, we play strong man- to-man. We are a quick team with plenty of talent, and our man-to-man has locked some tough teams down so we plan to stick with that. In the end, it’s all about preparation, if we prepare well and remain focused we can do anything.”

This is a confident team who is aware of what has led to their success. Excellent preparation in practice was a clear vocal point from all three experienced players who know what it takes to win it all. The Redwings are ready to dominate in the playoffs and repeat another state championship. Go Redwings! Let’s fill the stands in the playoffs.
