After a monumental season for both the men’s and women’s Benet track teams in 2025, each team is back with one goal in mind: win the conference championship…again! This title requires intense training and work, and is the ultimate test of strength and commitment as Benet is able to face their most evenly-matched opponents during the season.
The Benet track season is long, with both indoor and outdoor seasons, each requiring different skills to truly excel in the sport. Both the indoor and the outdoor seasons count as a single track sport, but in each part, a conference championship is available for the taking. The indoor conference championship was won by the women’s team, and the outdoor conference championship was won by both the men’s team and the women’s team during the 2025 season, and both teams hope to run their success back again with a two-peat. The conference meet allows for the surrounding Catholic high schools to compete in one of the closest matchups that Benet faces each year.
The two teams are led by a very strong senior group, and these soon to be graduates are eager and ready to bring home more titles before they leave for college. The season starts in the middle of February for both squads, as the boys team heads to Lyons Township and the girls team heads to Huntley to kick off the season ahead of them.
The 2026 track season also concludes a chapter of Benet athletics, as two Chicagoland conferences will merge after the close of this season. This change brings new challenges and competition to the program, and will initiate the next stage of track at Benet Academy. The season is ready to kick off, and Benet is sure to have a successful season with players working hard to set new PR’s and records for both themselves and the school as well.
