Three players on the Benet girls varsity tennis team competed at the IHSA state finals. The finals were held from October 23-25 throughout the northwest suburbs. One of the competitors was the talented freshman Emma Mahlik. Emma had an incredible first season at Benet, finishing with a winning record of 22-6 and making the top twelve at the state tournament.
Emma started playing tennis at five years old. Emma first started playing as a hobby, but she began to take tennis seriously after winning the Chicago 10U district championship. Emma hopes to continue playing tennis after high school. Her dream is to play D1 tennis in college.
Not only does Emma play tennis at Benet, but she is also a member of the Investment Club and a student ambassador. Outside of school, Emma plays piano. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends. A well-rounded student and a great athlete, Emma looks forward to making her mark at Benet through her four years at the school.
