On Sunday, October 19, Benet opened their doors to future Redwings at its Open House. Prospective students came to preview their high school life. The open house included tours led by teachers, students, and volunteers.
Families learned about Benet athletics at tables in St. Ronald’s gym. They got to see all the clubs Benet has to offer as well. Families also walked through the alumni gym and explored Benet’s class offerings. Tables promoting Benet’s devotion to the Catholic faith were set around the cafeteria along with cookies and refreshments. The Open House was a great chance for future Redwings to explore all the extracurricular activities they could participate in, as most middle schools don’t offer as many activities. Also, admissions held a panel discussion in the auditorium where prospective families could ask students questions about Benet. This is helpful because it gives the prospective students a more relatable view of the school.
Families were able to check out the Benet campus and imagine their children as Redwings. Presentations from faculty members gave a broad overview of the Benet curriculum, and teachers were on hand to answer any specific questions. When entering high school, becoming overwhelmed with all the class options is easy. Therefore, hearing from Benet faculty gave families a valuable understanding of how courses work and an opportunity to begin mapping out a potential course of study.
Overall, the Open House helped prepare future Redwings for what life at Benet looks like. Hundreds of families showed up and were greeted by teachers and students who walked them through the Benet campus where they got to see classrooms, athletic facilities, and artistic facilities. They were able to check out Benet’s offerings at their own pace. Hopefully, this was only the first of many visits to Benet for those who attended the Open House.
