On September 10, the JV and JV2 girls tennis teams had a Breast Cancer awareness match against Naperville North High School. The reason the tennis teams had this match was because Breast Cancer is very common for women to get, and spreading awareness about it is very important to both the coaches and the players on the team.
The match took place at Benet’s Scholastica courts. The players all received pink shirts, socks, hair ties, temporary tattoos, and key chains to wear while participating. At the game, there was a Kona Ice Truck for the players to enjoy after they had finished competing.
In addition to the pink attire, the players also used pink tennis balls during their matches. JV team member and sophomore Campbell Cox said, “This match has just been so much fun, seeing everything in all pink, and obviously it’s for a good cause as well.” Including Cox, many other players enjoyed this match and would love to see it be a continued tradition in the future.
In the end, both JV and JV2 won the majority of their matches, resulting in a victory for the girls’ tennis teams. All in all, the Breast Cancer awareness match resulted in a win for the Redwings and a fun match that the players will remember.
