Seasoned performers and novices looking to display their dance talents under the bright lights of a shining stage have an exciting opportunity ahead. Look no further than Orchesis, the dance club that welcomes all. This is a club in which dancers of all skill levels move as one, celebrating and culminating in performances where everyone’s talent and enthusiasm is embraced equally.
The design of Orchesis allows students to choreograph dances completely on their own. The troupe is officially led by Mrs. Kelsey Peceniak, who gives students free reign to use their own imagination to create fun dances. Each year, the Orchesis troupe holds a showcase in November, consisting of a variety of dances, songs, and styles, keeping the audience entertained and curious. From hip hop to musical theater and lyrical to contemporary, Orchesis has something for everyone.
This year, the showcase will be held over the course of three days: November 21, November 22, and November 23. The performances will feature over 65 students, each of whom have worked hard each week learning, memorizing, and practicing their dances.
As Rose Thies, a new dancer, said, “Orchesis has been a great opportunity for me as a freshman to meet upperclassmen and other freshmen like me. I’ve never been super confident in my dancing, but at least now I can show a little more confidence and pride when I am asked to dance, and have a fun time doing it. Without Orchesis, I would never have been able to make this adjustment and for that, I am so grateful.”
The Orchesis Dance Company encourages all to watch the showcase filled with talented dancers, and the troupe welcomes all aspiring dancers to join next season.
