The Class of 2026 gathered to kick off their final year at Benet with the Senior Sunrise and Senior Barbecue. Organized by Student Government, the two events are considered sentimental traditions for senior Redwings. As the seniors begin to fill out college applications, they come to realize that their time at Benet is limited, giving these traditions a bittersweet meaning. Next year, these classmates will be scattered all across the country. Therefore, these events are something for the seniors to be grateful for and an opportunity to take in every possible moment before they must move on from such a special place.
The Senior Sunrise occurred on August 20 at dawn on the last first day at Benet for the Class of 2026. Gathering together on the track, seniors mingled and watched the sunrise.
On Friday August 22, seniors came together at the Senior Barbecue to eat hotdogs and hamburgers and socialize together. Following this event, the seniors enjoyed their final Soc-Hop where students enjoyed a variety of music.
“It was really fantastic,” Senior Vicki Kluzak said, “seeing all of the seniors come together for their last year at Benet.” The Senior Sunrise and Senior Barbecue was an especially memorable way to kick off the year for the seniors, and a great way to kick off a final year of memories, fun, and laughter.
