Benet Academy officially welcomed the Class of 2029 at FroshFest, a tradition that brings energy, excitement, and a whole lot of Redwing spirit to campus. This event is held annually at Benet. On check-in day, August 19, the freshmen arrived for their first day of school and were given FroshFest shirts to wear. This year the theme was Heroes vs. Villains. On this day, only freshmen attend class giving them the opportunity to adjust before the rest of the student body starts their classes. All freshmen came ready to connect with classmates and kick off their high school journey. From team-building and games to food and giveaways, FroshFest had something for everyone. Students competed in challenges led by the senior class leaders, many of them were part of Student Government. Seniors dressed in costumes that followed the theme of Heroes vs. Villains. The freshmen were enthusiastic about these games and were able to enjoy themselves throughout the day.
The day was filled with lots of fun, teamwork, and friendships. Many of the students had a lot of fun with games such as tug-of-war, capture the flag and even Redwing trivia. For many of these students, FroshFest was their first time to experience the supportive and passionate environment from Benet.
As the event came to an end, students left with smiles on their faces, new friendships, memories, and a stronger sense of belonging to the Benet community. “I was so nervous coming in, but everyone was so friendly and I felt like I belonged here right away,” said Jocelynn Valenzuela. FroshFest isn’t just a bunch of activities; it is a meaningful beginning, the forging of a strong relationship with the faith centered community that defines Benet.
