The 2025 Student Government elections took place the week of April 22, and the winner was announced on April 25. Only three tickets ran for the esteemed position of President and Vice President. This is much lower than previous years, as six tickets ran last year for the position. The tickets for this year included: Debris and Rifenburg, Francis and Holubec, and Krueger and Kelly.
On Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday the three tickets campaigned in St. Martin Lobby. They handed out very creative items, like cereal, cookies, bracelets, and more. Each ticket carried out an exciting campaign with great election videos, each with new ideas that could positively impact the Benet Academy community. The ideas ranged from shelves in the bathroom to changing the format of the meetings to goals of raising $100K for the Christmas Drive. Oresta Holubec spoke on the madness of campaign week, “I got my first dose of what it takes to lead SG during the campaign week. It was difficult and stressful, but our problem solving and teamwork skills definitely pulled us through the finish line”.
On Thursday, April 24, it was announced that there would be a runoff between Michael Francis and Oresta Holubec, and Nick Debris and Bridget Rifenburg. On April 25, it was announced that the 2025-2025 Student Government President and Vice President would be Michael Francis and Oresta Holubec.
The administration plans on: increasing attendance at school-wide events through tailgates, connecting with local student government bodies, changing the format of student government meetings, and giving the student body a choice in choosing themes. Holubec finished by stating, “I am beyond grateful to be stepping into these shoes and can’t wait for everyone to see what we bring to the 2025-2026 school year. Go ‘Wings!”
