Two years on from Campus Ministry’s rebranding from SALT (Serving and Loving Together) to L.I.F.T. (Living in Faith and Truth), they have impacted student and faculty faith life tremendously. L.I.F.T. is a monumental part of the Benet community; for instance, they have organized countless charity events throughout the year to support various causes. They create and/or participate in such initiatives such as Redwings Fight Cancer, the March for Life, Operation Christmas Child, and events for the Love Like Sean organization. Not only do they play a leading role in these events, but they also organize the retreats that everyone at Benet can participate in. The freshman retreat, also known as St. Benedict Rules, happens on a standardized testing day for sophomores and juniors. The sophomore retreat, also known as Lenses, took place on May 15th of this year. Junior retreat, also known as the Catalyst retreat, takes place on up to three different days throughout the year. Finally, the famous multi-day Logos retreat for seniors, while faculty-run and largely separate from the student structure of Campus Ministry, is held off-campus five times during the year. In addition to these events, L.I.F.T. holds daily masses before school for Benet students to participate in.
Deacon Christopher and the various members of the board put in countless hours to share the gift of faith with everyone in the Benet community. L.I.F.T. has created a welcoming space where students can grow in faith, build meaningful relationships, and support one another through shared spiritual experiences. Students are encouraged to not only connect with others but connect with God through L.I.F.T. I want to extend my personal gratitude for all the hard work L.I.F.T. has put in this school year to help the Benet community deepen their faith.
