Benet’s Orchesis showcase is performed every November in St. Daniel’s Auditorium. This year, it took place from November 22 to November 23. The showcase is always a testament to all of the hard work and dedication put in by all the members of Orchesis during the first 4 months of school.
Orchesis is a student-run company at Benet. The students choreograph the dances, choose the costumes, and choose the songs for the showcase. The club is split into 4 groups: red, black, gray, and white. Red is the most advanced group, and white is the least advanced group. Something amazing about Orchesis is that someone with absolutely no dance experience can join. Students can start their dance journey through this club. They are also able to advance to other groups as their skills grow.
The showcase was amazing. Tickets were sold out for all shows. It was so impressive knowing that all the dances were made and taught by students. The styles of the dances and songs varied; some were musical theater (such as “The Wizard and I” and “You Will Be Found”), and others were popular pop songs (such as “I Know It Won’t Work” and “Die for You”). There were 34 total dances, 2 acts, and 2 slideshows. Giselle Soteno, a Junior at Benet, said this after the show: “I have a really great time making friends and dancing with my friends every year. I’m glad to be a part of the Orchesis community. Everyone works so hard and has fun!” All members of Orchesis made it clear that the showcases are not only fun to watch, but also fun to dance in.
