As the second semester closes on our 2023-2024 school year, Benet is proud to bring back opportunities for students to travel and enrich their education abroad. This past January, Benet was able to send a group of seniors to London for the senior class trip. The Benet Senior London Trip was a tradition that started in the Late 1960s by long-time English teacher, Mr. Tim White. Indeed, some of the students on the tour had parents who participated when they were students at Benet years ago.
Twenty-two seniors, chaperoned by Mr. John Leffler and Ms. Maura Bates, were led to explore historical city sights, performances, and experience all that London has to offer. “I had an amazing time in London,” Senior Bella Ward writes. “I was able to spend time exploring the city with some of my best friends, and create memories that I will never forget, especially, exploring Canterbury, and getting to see Moulin Rouge live.”
In addition to this, the Benet Music Department is happy to be reinstating travel with its upcoming summer trip to Iceland, Denmark, and Sweden. Choir students will have the opportunity to explore the wilds of Iceland and the city sites of Copenhagen. This trip will be led by Fine Arts Chair and Choir Director, Mr. Brian Wand. In addition to Mr. Wand, Ms. Emily Rausch and Ms. Lindsay Seminak will also be accompanying the group.
Students can look forward to many future travel opportunities, such as next year’s senior class trip to Greece in December. Students will explore the rich history of Greece and holiday traditions with Mr. Leffler and a renowned archeologist and guide, Dr. Helen Sulioti.
