“Velkomin til Islands!” is what the Concert Chorale will be greeted with on June 12th, 2024 as they touch down in Reykjavik, Iceland. For the first time since 2019, Benet Academy’s Concert Chorale will be touring and performing in Europe over the summer. Some of the pieces that will be traveling with them are “Blackbird,” a song originally sung by The Beatles, and “Bohemian Rhapsody,” originally sung by Queen. The itinerary begins in the capital of Iceland, where the choir will spend four days performing at places like Hallgrimskirkja, one of the most magnificent churches in the world.
They will then tour many gorgeous glaciers and natural wonders before hitching back on the plane to Copenhagen, Denmark. There, they will see many iconic landmarks like Tivoli Gardens, Rosenborg Castle, and Amalienborg Palace across four days. Performances will take place in Tivoli Gardens and Gruntvigskirken church. They will further travel across Oresund Bridge into Malmö, Sweden, where they will tour the Romanesque architecture from the 1200s. After spending one more night in Copenhagen, they will get back on the plane and fly to Iceland for a comfortably-long layover during which they will visit the Blue Lagoon before flying back to Chicago on June 21st.
