Hello everyone!
It has been such an honor to serve as both Section Editor and Editor-in-Chief of the Benet Herald over the past 2 years. During my time at Benet, I have also been involved in Benet Buddies, National Honor Society, Tennis, Diversity Leadership Council, and Student Government.
Among all of these activities, leading the Benet Herald contributed most to my future plans. Writing has been a passion of mine ever since I was little, and the Herald only strengthened that passion.
In hopes of becoming a news broadcaster, I will continue my academic journey at Saint Louis University as a Political Science major with a minor in Spanish. My desire to report unbiased news as a journalist stems from my family’s tradition of watching the evening news during COVID. At first, I did not enjoy my dad forcing me to watch the news, but I grew to love it. The Benet Herald has allowed me to experience the journalism world first-hand by covering topics such as changes to the curriculum, athletic success, and student advice on how to study for finals. I will certainly take the responsibility, leadership, and discipline that I have developed with me.
In truth, I owe it all to my sister Greta, who actually informed me that the Benet Herald existed. Eventually following in my sister’s footsteps as an editor, it was my goal to do better than her. Kidding.
I really owe much of my writing growth to her as well as to the English teachers I have had at Benet. Mr. Doyle and Mrs. Savage, thank you both for guiding me on how to write better and how to find my voice. To all the staff writers, thank you all for working so hard–I’m proud of you guys! I would also like to thank my mom and dad for supporting my writing endeavors through it all.
Although Greta is the sister that I ask for help with writing, my sisters Claudia and Jana have also shown me more love and support than I could have ever asked for.
Overall, I cannot wait to see how the Benet Herald flourishes in the upcoming years. I wish all the staff writers the best of luck. With Deniz and John, I know the Benet Herald is in good hands. I am eternally grateful for this club and all that it has taught me. Congratulations to the Class of 2024 and go Redwings!
