Building off the successes of this past year’s newly offered courses, Benet Academy will offer several new and exciting classes for all grades under multiple departments for the 2024-2025 academic school year.
A new Advanced Placement course, AP French: Language and Culture, will be offered in the World Languages Department. This college-level course will immerse students in French culture and prepare them to take the AP Examination in French Language, which can earn them college credit. Under the English department, Collegiate Humanities will be offered, replacing the previous Honors Advanced Humanities.
Additionally, students who have taken AP Seminar can continue down the Advanced Placement Capstone Sequence with the new AP Research course. Through the AP Capstone Sequence, students have the opportunity to earn college credit and hone their critical thinking skills through academic research and the development of a scholarly portfolio, and they have the opportunity to be awarded a certificate and the AP Capstone Diploma.
Furthermore, Benet will offer Honors Project Lead The Way: Aerospace Engineering under the Engineering and Computer Science Department for juniors and seniors. This new class allows Benet students to study a rigorous and challenging field while still in high school, preparing them for college and the career world and continuing to inspire future generations in STEM.
Finally, massive changes are coming to the Science Department. Starting next year, all sophomores will be required to take Chemistry, Honors, or College Prep, and all juniors must take Physics, with options being Honors or the new AP Physics 1 & 2 course, which replaces Honors Advanced Physics. These newly added courses at Benet Academy exemplify the institution’s exceptional learning environment and growth opportunities. Through the Academy’s ever-expanding curriculum, students can thrive as they learn to develop real-world skills and a disciplined mindset under the guidance of the Benedictine tradition.
