Starting a new school year is nerve wrecking, but also exciting! There are unknowns and changes from previous years of school, but returning students can always count on the annual back to school Environmental Club pancake breakfast!
Last Friday was the first pancake breakfast of the year for Benet’s Environmental Club. The environmental club hosts pancake breakfasts on special occasions such as the start of the school year and holidays. The breakfast was hosted in room S119. The room was full of volunteers, environmental club members, and hungry students of all grade levels. Volunteers brought in ingredients, waffle makers, toppings, and utensils. Students did not let these items go to waste. Every outlet and lab station had multiple waffles cooking, students eating, and condiments emptying. All the students talked and laughed as they ate their pancakes and waffles. The entree fees and donations collected at the breakfast are working to make the environment as lively as the environment inside the room that day. Environmental Club secretary Ashley Shissler had this to say after the breakfast concluded, “I have been coming to the pancake breakfasts since freshman year and I always have fun! Not only is it fun, but the money we make goes to a good cause. I hope more people come to the next one.” This school year started off with fun and a great cause!
