With the start of the new school year, there are many new staff members added to the Benet community. Clare Johnson, a Benet alum, has come back to the school as an administrative assistant in the principal’s office.
Ms. Johnson was born in Hinsdale and grew up in Downers Grove. She attended Benet Academy and graduated in the class of 2019. After Benet, she attended the College of Saint Benedict where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree. Before returning to Benet, Ms. Johnson worked at the American Association of Neurological Surgeons for a little over a year. This organization was a professional association for neurosurgeons allowing them to further their education, attend conferences, and socialize with other professionals.
Ms. Johnson is returning to Benet this year. She said the main reason she came back was because of the amazing Benet community. She made lifelong friends at Benet, and found an amazing community that is always there to help. Ms. Johnson is a second-generation Benet student. She had 13 other family members attend Benet. Ms. Johnson said one of her favorite teachers was Mr. Ford. She had Mr. Ford her freshman year, and she appreciated his constant encouragement to ask questions. He also taught her to understand that there may not always be an answer in theology and in life. Ms. Johnson was voted by her graduating class as most likely to work at Benet. And now five years later, she is!
Ms. Johnson’s advice for current students is to get involved. She says that your time at Benet may seem very long, but it goes by fast. She encourages students to join clubs and try something new.
Outside of Benet, Ms. Johnson is very crafty. She loves sewing and baking. Her favorite thing to bake is bread. She also enjoys spending time with her dog and her friends. In addition to being very active in the Benet community, Ms. Johnson is a youth ministry chaperone at her parish.
