August 23rd marked the first day back to school for the Redwings, and after a long day of learning,  students were able to relax at the back-to-school Soc Hop! Seniors first enjoyed the Senior BBQ, with grilling done by  class President Jeffrey Lange and Vice President Hannah Baer. “I think it was a great way to get back in the swing of things,” commented Jeffrey Lange. “Student Government worked very hard to set up and run the event, and I think it marks good things to come!”  The seniors got to enjoy masterfully grilled hotdogs,  pizza, and a visit from the fire department (no, there was no fire started by SG). After the BBQ, the Soc Hop kicked into full swing with a mosh pit and student DJ, Korina Mongirdas, blasting music all night long. Students were also able to enjoy Hawaiian ice, as included with their price of admission. Senior Emmy Valenzuela said, “It was such a fun way to kick off the year, and I truly had a blast!” All in all, if this event says anything about the rest of the year, it’s sure going to be a fun one!
