With the new year and new semester just starting, let’s take some time to focus on things we want more (INS) and less of (OUT) for the second semester and 2024!
INS:
1. Supporting the arts
Benet is so lucky to boast such a wonderful arts program! Go to the musical “Newsies”, go to a guitar club concert…just go to something in Daniel’s! Where else can you find live music these days? SG is also bringing back the Variety Show which is such a great opportunity to watch your uber talented classmates show off their special skills.
2. More cookie days
It is (not yet) scientifically proven that cookie days make you smarter and (on average) raise your ACT score up to 7 points- but it could!
3. Doing your best all the time (manifest)
Positive mindset! Let’s do this! It’s officially academic comeback season! Ask for help, stay ahead on assignments, stop playing cooking fever during class, and let’s do our best!
4. This new panini bread
Originally, I was a skeptic. However, this new bread at the panini station is simply fantastic and the Quest sandwich artist does a terrific job. Also! Saying thank you and being polite to the cafe ladies is sooooo in.
5. Curly fries in the cafe
Whatever happened to the curly fries?! Those are so in as well!
NOTE- the day after I originally wrote this they were back in the cafe! Maybe the Benet Herald has clairvoyant tendencies…
6. Mr. Cabay announcements
Mr. Cabay and Mrs. Carlevato are really the source of happenings at the school. Listening during 4th period announcements is so in because how else will you know what’s going on? With this, reading your BA emails (especially from SG) is in. So listen up during 4th period so you stay in the know!
OUTS:
1. Less than 5 hours of sleep
Look, I get it, but we all have to focus on our sleep health. Better sleep leads to better health/mental health and thus better grades. I recommend sleep podcasts with a quality ocean noise…don’t knock it till you try it. Catch some Z’s so you catch those A’s.
2. Pretending to be too cool for themes at events
Everyone knows you saw last night’s post about the theme- you might as well dress in it! No one looks silly if we all look silly together.
3. Complaining about DJs at school events
I vote the next person who complains about the music has to display their Spotify wrapped to the entire school…leave the DJs alone. I’d like to mention I have heard no complaints for the Turnabout DJ and it’s so refreshing. Let’s keep up the good work.
4. Cutting people off in the parking lot
Please drive safely and slowly. Patient driving is in-cutting people off is not.
5. Walking slowly in the hallway when I’m late to APUSH
Let’s all just pick up the pace or don’t walk four-people wide people wide please.
