On Sunday, December 3, Benet Academy kicked off its annual Christmas Drive with a 5K and Breakfast with Santa. The fundraising event welcomed students, families, friends, and alumni on campus to help inaugurate this season of giving.
The event began with a mass celebrating the first Sunday of Advent in Benet’s chapel. Complete with beautiful music and readings, it was a poignant reminder of the hope in Christ’s birth and the responsibility everyone has to bear witness to this hope in their interactions with others. Next, the dull weather proved no deterrent for the participants in the 5K. Runners, joggers, and walkers alike followed a course around Benet’s campus, cheered on by volunteers along the way. When finished, everyone was invited to join Santa himself for breakfast. It was an excellent chance to enjoy some good company and eat some good food! When asked about the event, Erin Cronin responded, “It was such a great way to kick off the Christmas Drive and get into the Christmas spirit!”.
The friendly ambiance and successful turnout were an auspicious start to Benet’s 2023 Christmas Drive, an event that raises money all season long for children and families in need. It is truly a powerful thing to be a part of a community that prides itself on its compassion, a testimony to the true meaning of Christmas.
