Penny Wars took place from Monday, November 13 to Thursday, November 16. The annual Penny Wars is a key fundraiser for the Christmas Drive, where classes and faculty compete for a slop day the following Monday. Using coins as positive points and dollars as negative points, Benet Academy used sabotage and coordination to raise money for various causes.
This installment of Penny Wars was marked with ups and downs. By Monday, the faculty held a strong lead as the senior class was depleted. Sophomores took the lead with the faculty, juniors, and freshmen holding strong. Seniors continued a slide, hoping not to be the second senior class in Benet history not to win Penny Wars.
United by the prospect of a slop day, the senior class rallied back. By Thursday, the seniors had clinched a last-minute victory. In all, Penny Wars was a huge success for the Christmas Drive. Student Government hopes the energy from Penny Wars carries over into the rest of Christmas Drive Season.
