Benet Academy has had a few new teachers this year, but Mrs. Russ is not one of them. Mrs. Russ had taught math at Benet for 12 years. After having her daughter, she took a break from teaching. Mrs. Russ has now returned to Benet Academy to pick up where she left off.
This 2023-2024 school year, Mrs. Russ teaches College Prep Algebra and College Prep Geometry. There have been some differences at Benet since she was last teaching. One of the biggest differences she noticed was the implementation of technology. She pointed this out by saying, “The biggest difference has been in terms of technology. The last time I taught at Benet, simply having a cell phone with you during the day earned you a detention, whether you were using it or not. Now with the iPads, everybody has access to so many different things all the time.”
Even though there have been many changes, she still enjoys teaching at Benet and the environment the staff and students bring. “I enjoy working with my students as we try to build a classroom environment that is both educational and fun. Not only am I enjoying being in a classroom again, but it has also been nice to reconnect with some of my former colleagues and meet new ones. I’m looking forward to seeing how the year unfolds.” The environment in the classroom has changed as new things are introduced to students and teachers. The school may be drastically changing, but some changes may be for the better.
The Benet community is very excited to have Mrs. Russ back as a teacher.
